Vicky's CoolSculpting Experience Part 1

My name is Vicky, and I have been a Registered Dietitian for over 7 years, as well as an artist. Even though I live a relatively healthy lifestyle, I have always struggled with areas of stubborn fat on my stomach that I can’t seem to get rid of! It isn’t something that warrants surgery but at the same time, it’s something noticeable to me.

This is when I came across External Affairs CoolSculpting treatment. It is ideal for people, such as myself, who want to get rid of those areas of stubborn fat that exist even when they are leading a healthy lifestyle.

"You have to keep in mind that CoolSculpting isn’t a magic potion that will get rid of your fat permanently with no effort."

In order for CoolSculpting to work the best it should be coupled with a healthy diet and regular exercise. While CoolSculpting can get rid of the existing fat in your body, if you continue to live an unhealthy lifestyle your body will develop new fat in that area again. During my treatment, an applicator was placed on the area being treated - for myself, that was my stomach area. I had two applicators, one on each side of my stomach. The applicator creates suction and you feel a pinching & itchy sensation like menstrual cramps for about 5 minutes. Then you just feel a cooling effect on your stomach for 30 minutes. They do a 2-minute massage right after on your treated area to increase the effectiveness of the treatment by 68%. I am very ticklish so that was definitely a tough massage for me!

"We will see the full results after 12 weeks! After your treatment, it is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regime."

Eat plenty of vegetables or fruits with every meal, ideally it should be 50% of your plate. Wherever you can, choose whole grains to increase that extra fiber and keep hydrated by drinking at least 8 glasses of fluids a day. Remember that water is always the best to quench your thirst, especially in our dry Canadian weather! Try to increase activity in your daily life, such as parking further away from the store so you have to do a bit more walking, or take the stairs instead of the elevator. We will see!
