Rosacea & Redness

Smooth and tone your complexion.

Affecting more than three million Canadians, rosacea is more than just a red face. While it begins as a propensity for flushing and blushing, the redness eventually persists, clinging to your cheeks and nose and becoming uneven, bumpy, and inflamed.

Rosacea doesn’t look good and between pimples and pustules, hyper-sensitivity and swelling, and sometimes watery, irritated eyes, it doesn’t feel good either.

What is Rosacea?

Unfortunately, the cause of rosacea is unknown, though it appears to be genetic in nature, research is making connections with the vascular and nervous systems as well.

A chronic, inflammatory condition, rosacea is more common in people of English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Scandinavian, and Eastern European descent and it rarely shows up before the age of 30.  Because it sneaks up on you, gradually developing as a flush or acne attack, most people don’t even know they have it. But as it progresses, it becomes more aggressive with the redness deepening and lingering, often manifesting as red, visible blood vessels and pimples.

Untreated, the inflammatory response occurs repeatedly, worsening swelling, permanently dilating blood vessels, and making the skin look bumpy and ruddy, even bulbous (particularly over the nose), with rough, dry patches and pimples.
