What is stubborn fat?

Men and women alike find that getting fit and looking good is often hindered by fatty areas that just won’t go away, despite age, diet, or exercise.

Everyone has problem areas where fat tends to cling. On men, it’s generally the pectorals, stomach, and waist (love handles) and on women, it’s usually the stomach, hips, butt, and thighs.

Why won’t it go away?

Stubborn fat is caused by how your body uses energy and stores fat – namely, the chemicals and receptors involved in storing and releasing nutrients.

Stubborn fat has higher amounts of the receptors that store nutrients, but ultimately, stubborn fat is often the result of what you’re eating (not just the calories), lowered metabolism, low thyroid hormones, high stress, and lack of sleep. But for some, even making adjustments to those areas doesn’t help eliminate stubborn fat.
