EyEnvy vs Latisse

Can’t get in to see your favourite lash technician and you’re missing half your lashes?

So many of our clients are wondering how to get longer lashes at home? No problem, there is a solution! Even if you have every intention of going back to see your lash technician, she’ll thank you for improving the condition and length of your lashes.

We have two options for you. Latisse® or EyEnvy. Read on to find out the difference.

Both products are manufactured to improve the appearance of the eyelashes but the major difference is that Latisse® is a prescription drug and EyEnvy is not.

Latisse® has the active medication bimatoprost 0.03%. It is indicated to treat hypotrichosis of the eyelashes by increasing their growth including length, thickness and darkness.

Hypotrichosis is a condition indicated by an inadequate amount of eyelashes. Latisse® (bimatoprost 0.03% solution) is identical to the ophthalmic solution for glaucoma treatment and that is how it was discovered to enhance the eyelashes. Check out someone who uses Lumigan for glaucoma. They typically have way more eyelashes on the treated side! When the medication interacts with the receptors in the hair follicle, this most likely stimulates the resting follicles (telogen phase) to growing follicles (anagen phase).

Bimatoprost is generally safe when applied to the base of the eyelashes at the lid margin with minimum side effects. For a complete product monograph, you can visit the manufacturer’s website ( Allergan…yes, the company that makes Botox® too!!) It typically takes 4-6 weeks to begin to see the length. After another 4-6 weeks, thickness and darkness in the lashes is visible as well.

Since Latisse® does require a prescription, it is not available through our online store. It is important to have an in clinic or online consultation with our MD or NP so that you understand the risks and benefits. If you are interested, reach out to us [email protected] and we can arrange it for you.

EyEnvy, on the other hand does not require a consultation with our medical team and can be purchased directly online [email protected] So how does it work? EyEnvy has a combination of active ingredients to increase the length of your lashes which will also make them appear fuller.

  • Sodium hyaluronate which promotes microcirculation.
  • Grape seed which is a potent antioxidant
  • Bio-Peptides to help rejuvenate and strengthen fragile hairs.
  • Ginseng root extract for anti-inflammatory and immune-stimulating activity
  • Tocopheryl-Vitamin E which protects hair follicles from environmental damage
  • Chamomile to soothe sensitive skin
  • Penta-Peptide 4 helps follicles reach their full potential
  • Vitamin C – antioxidant and helps to improve collagen
  • Vitamin A too improve normal skin function
  • Vitamin B3 ( Niacinamide) to stimulate microcirculation in the dermis.

I actually did a split face study a few years ago to see for myself. I applied Latisse® to my right lash line and I applied EyEnvy to my left lash line. After three months I compared. I actually had beautiful length on both sides. I will report that the Latisse® side seemed to be a little thicker, However, I actually think that my right side naturally seems to grow better. No idea why!! Because even if I am just using the same product on both sides, my right side is always a bit better. Both sides get the length but it’s like I have more lashes on that side. Sorry, I’m sure you were hoping for a THIS or THAT answer!!

Pros and Cons

Latisse® does have a few more possible reactions such as increased pigmentation to the skin ( which some people like!) , redness or irritation to the eyes ( usually subsides), darkening the brown or gold pigment in the iris ( more of a risk with Lumigan which goes IN the eye), and hair growth around the eye if you are sloppy! But it definitely works to increase the length, colour, and thickness of the eyelashes.

EyEnvy is a little easier to apply, seems to last a bit longer, and has a lower cost. Perfect product if your lashes already have some thickness but you want to get the length!
