Get relief from debilitating migraines.
There are 2.7 million migraine sufferers across Canada that know a migraine is much more than just a headache. Lasting anywhere from 4 to 72 hours, migraine attacks can cause:
Horrible, throbbing pain
Extreme light, sound, and scent sensitivity
Nausea and vomiting
Some sufferers even experience visual disturbances or temporary blindness
While most people are symptom-free between attacks, some will have a migraine day after day for weeks. Chronic migraine is classified as having 15 or more attacks per month over a three-month period. While the causes of migraines remain unknown, medical Botox® treatments can help provide relief from attacks and lessen symptoms.
What kind of migraine do I have?
Migraines come in many forms but the two most common are migraines with aura and migraines without aura. As a nervous system symptom, sufferers with an aura experience a warning of an upcoming migraine. Auras can be:
Visual (flashes of light, blurriness, or distorted vision)
Sensory (pins and needles)
Mobile (muscle weakness)
Speech (difficulty speaking)
However they manifest, auras generally last about 20-60 minutes before the onset of the migraine attack. Following the migraine attack, sufferers experience a post-drome, which is often described as a zombie state that includes confusion, moodiness, weakness, dizziness, and continued sensitivity to light and sound.
