Laser Resurfacing Before and After

Revitalize your skin.

Our CO₂ Resurfacing treatment combines the effectiveness of traditional carbon dioxide lasers (the gold standard for wrinkle removal) with a new application technique that delivers powerful results without the traditionally harsh side effects.

BEFORE + AFTER

Results and patient experience may vary.

Achieve smoother and brighter skin!

CO₂ Resurfacing is a carbon dioxide laser that has been used for more than 25 years in the aesthetic industry to treat conditions such as wrinkles, scars of various origins, uneven pigmentation, and dilated pores.

When the CO₂ beam of light comes in contact with the epidermis, it heats and vaporizes the skin tissue, instantly removing the superficial layers of the skin, scars, and wrinkles, while smoothing out the surface of the skin. The skin remodelling occurs with new skin and collagen growth. Benefits include:

  • Stimulation of new collagen: softens fine lines and wrinkles, removes age and sun spots, reduces acne scars.
  • Non-surgical (no incisions): virtually painless laser treatment used with a topical anesthetic for a more comfortable experience.
  • Minimal downtime: you can go back to your daily activities post-treatment and any redness that may occur disappears after several hours.

What to Expect

If deemed a candidate for CO₂ Resurfacing treatment, our highly trained clinical aestheticians will create a custom treatment plan with you during a consultation. Based on this consultation, they will determine the correct MiXto® for you - whether mild, moderate, or advanced.

Using medical-grade numbing cream, we ensure the treatment area is sufficiently numb before beginning the treatment- because we want you to be as comfortable as possible!

After the treatment is complete, a protective ointment called Aquaphor® is applied to the skin. Our skincare expert will also advise you on how to care for your skin for the next few days as you heal. Downtime does vary based on the individual and strength of the treatment, however, typically it can be anywhere from 5-10 days.

 CO₂ Resurfacing FAQs

  • CO₂ Resurfacing is available at both EA Edmonton and EA St. Albert!

  • C0₂ Resurfacing is a fractioned device that delivers targeting tissue vaporization which encourages optimal collagen remodelling. This means you can enjoy improvements in fine lines, acne scarring, large pores, and skin discoloration!

  • The treatments can vary based on the mild or advanced C0₂ Resurfacing, however, in most cases we recommend three treatments spaced one month apart.

  • We apply topical anesthetic to keep the treatment as comfortable as possible. The average discomfort is comparable to a sunburn.

  • Erythema (redness of skin): the laser-treated areas have a distinctive redness representing increased blood flow due to the growth of the superficial tissue and collagen. It will gradually fade during the first few days.

Inflammation (swelling): can last from 24 to 48 hours. Elevating the head while sleeping can help to minimize this.

Hyper-pigmentation (tanning): this appears after the third day of the procedure but then begins to shed and reveal younger healthy-looking skin.

During your consultation with a skin expert, our technician will guide you through what you can expect from your C0₂ Resurfacing treatment. Oral and topical prescriptions may be advised for optimal healing and results.

  • The recovery time is usually complete in about 5-10 days, depending on the strength of your treatment.

  • You can be slightly swollen for a few days. On the second or third day you will begin peeling and can experience a little itchiness typical to a sunburn.

  • The skin will begin to regenerate new collagen within a few weeks and this process will get better as you heal. Areas with deeper scarring may require a stronger treatment or getting multiple sessions.

  • The best candidates for this procedure are: the younger patient with acne scars, the middle-aged patient with fine lines, age spots and minor to major textural irregularities and anyone that feels the need for rejuvenation but wants to avoid anything aggressive.
