How much is Botox in Edmonton?
The cost of Botox® in Edmonton varies from $125 to $900; the final cost depends on the individual characteristics of the patient and how many units they require for their treatment. Typically, it costs around $10 per unit, and patients may need between 10 to 70 units.
How Does Botox Work?
Botox works by weakening the muscles into which it is injected. As facial muscles contract, the loose skin above those muscles wrinkles. By weakening the muscles, the wrinkles are reduced.
How long does Botox® last?
Botox and Dysport kick in anywhere from 4-7 days after treatment. Individual results will vary, and can last anywhere from 3-6 months.
What are the side effects?
Common short-term side effects include: headache, minor bruises and/or swelling around the site of injection. Rare side-effects include a dropped brow, and blurred vision.
At what age should you start using Botox?
You can start Botox as early as 18 years old but you probably don’t need to. At Health & Aesthetics we assess each patient individually and will recommend the best treatment for you. For some people, this may mean starting Botox treatment as soon as your early 20s, if you’re prone to wrinkles and want to prevent them from occurring.
Am I a candidate?
Before treatment our physician will complete a medical profile with you to ensure this is the best treatment for you. Certain allergies, medical conditions, pregnancy and breastfeeding prevent clients from being able to receive Botox and Dysport. In that case we will explore other treatment options with you that our estheticians can perform.
What is the cost of Botox® or Dysport®?
Cost varies by treatment area and is dependant on how strong the muscles pull in each patient. For example: Horizontal forehead lines may range from $60-$200. Frown lines between the brows may range from $150-$400. Crow’s feet may range from $200-$400.
A personalized treatment plan will be developed during your consultation on your first visit. Our team aims to give the best outcome for the patient with the lowest dosing possible.
Will I look frozen?
Absolutely not! At External Affairs Medical Spa in Edmonton and St. Albert we make sure our clients leave looking natural, and youthful, not like plastic. Our nurses receive training multiple times a year ensuring their technique and knowledge is of the highest quality.
What happens if I stop treatments?
Nothing! If for any reason you choose to stop receiving Botox® or Dysport® treatments there will be no negative effects. In fact, if Botox or Dysport was used for prevention you will see wrinkles may take longer to appear. However, overtime without the use of these prescribed medicines you will see the return or increase of depth, and over all wrinkles and lines.
Is Botox painful?
Botox, itself, is not painful. The pain is associated with the needlestick. The smaller the needle, the better it is tolerated. When a volume of fluid is injected under the skin, it temporarily stimulates some of the nerve fibers. Everyone's threshold for these occurrences differs from person to person.
Is Botox safe?
Botox injections have been available for a long time and have been heavily studied by doctors from around the world. You should always go to a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon for Botox injections. You’re more likely to experience adverse side effects if your injections aren’t prepared according to FDA standards or injected by an inexperienced doctor.
