Frequently Asked Questions

Still not sure? Read our FAQ’s below.

Do lip injections hurt?

The procedure is minimally invasive but each person's pain tolerance is different and some patients may experience more pain than others. A topical numbing cream is used before treatment to help minimize pain and we do our very best to ensure you are as comfortable as possible.

We also use cannula technique is used to increase the safety of lip injections. The Cannulae are blunt, which results in less swelling, bruising and intravascular injection of filler. In addition, we only use HA products that can be broken down with hylaronadaise (R).

What are the side effects of lip injections?

Typically, side effects include minor swelling, redness, itching, and/or tenderness that lasts less than seven days. There is no downtime to this procedure and you can continue your day as normal.

What are the results like?

At External Affairs, we focus on maintaining proportion and balance, so results are subtle, natural, and immediate. Lip injection results last up to six months because overtime, your body breaks down the acids – because of this, the effects are completely reversible. Subsequent treatments may be required to achieve your desired effect.
