Becky's Blog: What A Crazy Year!

2019, What a crazy year!

As the year comes to a close, I find myself filled with gratitude for the people in my life. Our family had some major challenges this year and the team here at EA rose to the occasion to ensure that our clients and our business were looked after.

My husband Larry had triple bypass surgery this spring and has recovered beautifully. He has been by my side creating vision and growth for our business but had to prioritize his health over work this year. Thank you to Dr. Briggs for getting the right care for him. Meanwhile, our niece Jamie, who is the GM here at EA Medical Spas, had also left the business to pursue her lifelong dream of adopting. The news came quick last spring, and next thing you know, she added two little boys to her family!

"My heart is filled with gratitude for the entire team at EA. You all did such a great job this year and I thank you for pushing through the stressful times."

With our management team dwindling, roles were reassigned. I found myself quickly jumping back into the role of managing our company. Everyone banded together, and we made it work. Sometimes our team meetings were a little chaotic, but we did it. We got through the year. Jamie’s coming back to work soon. Larry’s starting to schedule meetings with our accountant, our banker, and our lawyer to get the business back on track for growth.

We Launched Our VIP Program

This year we had a blast launching our VIP program. Congrats if you made the list, I hope you have enjoyed the extra perks so far! We love our clients not on the VIP list too!! We’ll have fun events for all in the upcoming year.

Larry Received The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers Award

As I write this note our family just returned from the Government House where Larry received the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers Award. This morning his interview with CBC radio aired as well. For those that don’t know, EA’s passion project has been the building of a highschool for Mamawi Atosketan Native School just off the Maskwacis Reservation.

"This school has become a safe haven for these children to learn."

Not only was Larry the push behind the building committee and the fundraising committee but he provided a significant amount of funds as well. Thank you to all our EA clients for helping him to make this happen! He’s onto the next project...building an afterschool care and community center on the reservation.

We Helped Support Youthnited Nations Clinic in Africa

We also had fun raising money for a Health Center in Uganda. One of our nurses, Marnie, started a non-profit, Youthnited Nations, a few years ago and needed help to get their building project off the ground. We raised over $10,000 in one day! So, the next time you are getting a wrinkle fixed at EA, just know that you are supporting one of these great causes! We’ll have another Botox Fundraising Day sometime in the new year.

We Are Approaching 25 Years In Business

Also in the new year we will prepare to celebrate 25 years in business. We opened March 1st 1995 so mark your calendar for a party that week. It will be an exciting year!

Helping Others Take The Next Step In Their Medical Aesthetics Career

We have joined forces with The Aesthetics Training Canada Inc. ( thebotoxcourse.com and thefillercourse.com). This company has created an incredible program for teaching across Canada and have asked me to join their team. Quite an honour. I’m taking Sheena with me but don’t panic, she’ll only be away a few days a month! EA will also become a campus for physicians and nurses who have completed the program to do a one year fellowship to increase their experience.

Top Choice Awards

We won the Top Choice Award for 2019 and are honoured to be nominated again for 2020. But we can’t do it without you, we need you to vote!! Click this link and scroll down to the Top Medical Spa section. Thank you !

What The Kids Are Up To

As our kids complete their careers in medicine, psychology, and business we hope to see them involved a bit more. Jake has secured a position as an Emergency Medicine physician this spring ( 13 years of school!). Sam transferred to UVIC to complete her psychology degree then do the masters program. And Adam is 2nd year business here at McEwan. We also have Hayley completing the nurse practitioner program in BC and Lily at UofA nursing ( the girlfriends!). Are you seeing a pattern here? Out with the old , in with the new!! And, we might need to expand into BC!

We Are So Grateful!

From the bottom of my heart, please accept my best wishes for a happy close to 2019. Please accept my gratitude to our incredible clients. You have become part of our family. And lastly, to our team at EA, you have no idea how thankful I am for all of you. Some of you have been with us from the beginning and others are newer to the team. Love you, love you, love you! You embody our mission, Help People, Make Friends, & Have Fun.All my wishes for a safe and happy holiday season.
