Our Top 5 Wrinkle Treatments

With skin being the largest organ of the human body, it holds a lot of responsibility. It protects your body against environmental elements, helps regulate temperature within, and also effects how a person feels about their appearance. It is important to not only take care of your skin, but understand how it changes, ages, and support it along the way.

"At External Affairs we have various treatment and products for every skin type and every age. For most people however it’s hard for them to understand their skin and what exactly they need to address different concerns."

The External Affairs skincare specialists can help you decipher whether you may need Injectables, a V2 HydraLift, Vampire Facial, CO2 Fractional Resurfacing, Microdermabrasion, Chemical Peel, ZO or Cosmedical Skincare Products, as well as daily precautions you can take such as the way you sleep to reduce the start of new wrinkles and slow down the progression of existing ones.

1. Neuromodulators (Botox/Dysport/Xeomin)

Being the most popular cosmetic treatment in the world (for a reason) neuromodulators such as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin help delay the natural aging process, reducing and correcting wrinkles before it’s too late. Neuromodulators are good for crowsfeet, forehead lines, frown lines, bunny lines, lines around the mouth & lips, jowls & even on the chest and neck.

The way that Botox, Dysport & Xeomin work, is that once they are injected, the signals to the nerve injected becomes blocked. This results in the muscle not being able to contract anymore.

Over time, the lack of ability to contract will soften any preexisting wrinkles, and prevent any new ones from being formed due to the lack of repetitive movement that would occur naturally.

At EA we require each patient to meet with our medical team prior to any neuromodulator injections to go over any health concerns and health history to make sure these injections are right for you. Once you are approved for neuromodulators, you will have a consultation with a registered nurse who will explain the different products we have and specific dosages for you.

We always encourage starting lower and then going up to make sure you don’t get that ‘frozen’ look, and can still maintain expressions without getting the wrinkles!

2. HA Fillers (Restylane/Juvederm/Beletero/Teosyal)

Another option in regards to injectables to treat wrinkles is HA fillers (Hyaluronic Acid). These can be used in combination with a neuromodulator to achieve a more youthful look. By adding volume to the face you will soften out any superficial wrinkles and decrease any hollowing that also comes with aging.HA Fillers are also buildable, but can be added in the temples, tear troughs, cheek bones, lips, chin, jaw, and around the mouth to add volume. Adding volume pulls the skin tighter in surrounding areas, ironing out any tiny wrinkles you may have and changing your overall appearance.

3. ZO Skin Health

Dr. Zein Obagi & ZO Skin Health provide people like you with medical grade skincare products to help resolve serious skin issues and concerns with a specific, time-restricted treatment plan, as well as more gentle, everyday products to prevent aging and future skin damage. ZO Skin products work great in combination with skin treatments offered at External Affairs.

4. Sculptra

Did you know that once you reach your 20’s you begin losing 1% of your collagen every year? Collagen is the main component to healthy-looking skin, full of structure, support, and hydration.

Sculptra is a great product that we carry at EA that stimulates collagen production once injected, helping to fill out the face overall. Unlike HA Fillers, Sculptra is for more of an overall youthful result rather than a more dramatic result targeted to one area.

Usually with Sculptra you will need multiple treatments 8-12 weeks apart. A consultation will give you a better idea as each person is different.

5. CO2 Fractional Resurfacing

CO2 Fractional Resurfacing is a carbon dioxide laser, where the beams of light contact the epidermis heating and vaporizing the skin tissue. This instantly removes the superficial layers of the issue and new skin growth starts, including new collagen production. It is great on those deeper wrinkles and severe texture changes but can also help with issues such as acne scars, sun damage, precancerous growths, surgical or trauma scars or blotchiness.

CO2 Fractional Resurfacing can also be used on eyelids and around the mouth, where other products and treatments may avoid. You can learn more about CO2 Fractional Resurfacing by clicking here.
